Gibson honored as Emerging Philanthropist

Crystal Gibson was presented with the inaugural Emerging Philanthropist Award, given by The Northern Kentucky Fund of The Greater Cincinnati Foundation and presented at LEGACY's recent Next Generation Leader Awards.

Shiloh Turner and Crystal GibsonCOVINGTON, KY (July 21, 2014) - Crystal Gibson was presented with the inaugural Emerging Philanthropist Award, given by The Northern Kentucky Fund of The Greater Cincinnati Foundation and presented at LEGACY's recent Next Generation Leader Awards.

A lifelong Northern Kentucky resident and a graduate of Northern Kentucky University, Crystal Gibson has been a leader in her community, her workplace, and among her professional peers. As Vice President of Public Affairs at Citigroup, she directed the company’s community involvement and charitable giving. She drove a partnership with Gateway Community and Technical College that champions college courses for Citi employees. Under her leadership, the Gateway Center at Citi has served more than 800 employees in 10 years and offers career advising at all local colleges.

Gibson also provides countless hours to United Way, leading the 2013 Northern Kentucky Campaign cabinet to the highest amount ever raised. Serving on the boards of the Life Learning Center, the Northern Kentucky Education Council, and Success by 6; appointed by the Governor to the Kentucky Workforce Investment Board; and advising GCF grants as a member of the Foundation’s Community Investment Committee, Gibson shows the strength of her dedication to community improvement at every turn.

The Emerging Philanthropist Award, presented by The Northern Kentucky Fund of The Greater Cincinnati Foundation, recognizes an individual, 40 years or younger, who has demonstrated a passionate desire to give back and make Greater Cincinnati a more vibrant and prosperous region where everyone can thrive. As a young philanthropic leader, the recipient gives generously of time, experience and resources for the benefit of our community - and inspires others to do the same.

LEGACY is the premier organization for young professionals in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky, providing invaluable experiences that foster professional and personal development to help create a strong and vibrant region. Toward its mission of building the next generation of leaders, LEGACY hosts the annual Next Generation Leader Awards to salute and applaud the region's young professionals, ages 21 to 40, for significant accomplishments in their chosen professional field, as well as their commitment and contribution to the community. GCF was proud to partner with LEGACY for the event.
