CINCINNATI (July 22, 2015)– Beth Nowak received the Emerging Philanthropist Award at Legacy’s Regional Young Professionals Awards in July. The honor was presented to Nowak by The Northern Kentucky Fund of The Greater Cincinnati Foundation

The Emerging Philanthropist Award goes to a young philanthropic leader who gives generously of time, experience, and resources for the benefit of Greater Cincinnati and inspires others to do the same.

Nowak is the founder of Giving Families, an online resource providing parents and educators with activities designed to educate, engage, and empower children through shared moments of giving. A former teacher for Wyoming City Schools, Nowak was inspired to create Giving Families after observing that children are naturally altruistic.

Nowak has presented “Helping Our Littlest Helpers” at TEDx Xavier University and collaborated with Yale’s Center for Emotional Intelligence. She has earned an honorable mention from Stanford University’s Center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education's Compassion & Technology Competition and was a finalist in Duke Energy’s Children’s Museum Difference Maker Awards. She received the Alumnae of Excellence Award as a Leader of Promise from the Girl Scouts and the title of Best Social Entrepreneur in Grow America’s She Can Pitch competition.

Nowak serves on the advisory boards for Orange Financial and the Cincinnati Museum Center’s Difference Maker program. She is a Grants for Kids volunteer for The Greater Cincinnati Foundation, a member of the Junior League of Cincinnati, and the Bad Girls Ventures Class of 2013.

Nowak is a resident of Park Hills, Kentucky.

Legacy is the premier organization for young professionals in the Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky region. Legacy provides invaluable experiences which foster professional and personal development of young professionals in order to create a strong and vibrant region.

The Greater Cincinnati Foundation helps people make the most of their giving to build a better community. We believe in the power of philanthropy to change the lives of people and communities.
