Advocacy & Lobbying Series

Join experts from across the region for an Advocacy & Lobbying Series to help organizations learn to be better advocates and develop an advocacy agenda. Registration is open to all, but we are expressly looking for organizations who intentionally seek to impact Black women and their experiences in some aspect of their work.

Details on each session are below. Registration will apply to the entire series, but you are welcome to attend just those sessions most relevant to you.

Session 1: The Basics

Time: 12:00pm – 1:30pm

Learn the difference between advocacy and lobbying, how to safely advocate and lobby as a 501(c)(3) and fundamental strategies to be a better advocate.

Session 2: Different Governments, Different Approaches

Date: 6/30/21
Time: 12:00pm – 1:00pm

This session will address differences between federal, state and local government: budgets, how they operate and engagement strategies for each.  

Session 3: Advocacy Works! 

Date: 8/26/21
Time: 3:00pm – 5:00pm

Hear stories from the field. Get tips on how to be an effective advocate and lessons learned from real-life examples of successful advocacy campaigns. 

Session 4: Develop a Plan

Date: 9/15/21
Time: 12:00pm – 1:00pm

Learn how to create an advocacy agenda and strategy for your organization. Receive tools and resources you can apply now.

Session 5: Cincinnati Candidate Forum

Date: TBD (Late September)

A stand-alone session, this forum will focus on how local candidates in the November 2021 election will prioritize Black women in their elected leadership. Registrants will have the opportunity to practice their advocacy skills as active participants in the forum. Additional details to follow.

Note: This event will be held in the evening and will be open to additional members of the community.
