Government Guidebook Launch
February 20, 2024 | 12:00 PM — 1:00 PM
Join the Women’s Fund as we officially launch our newest equity tool, the Government Guidebook, on Tuesday, February 20 at 12:00 pm.
Civic engagement is a core principal of our democracy. Nowhere is this more true than at the local level, where decisions have a direct impact on citizens’ everyday lives and communities. While many governments aspire to include citizen input, limited capacity and budgets often mean there are few systems in place to intentionally encourage broad citizen involvement. Low engagement means critical perspectives are omitted from public decision-making, particularly those of traditionally disenfranchised groups such as women and people of color.
The Government Guidebook serves as a roadmap to achieving board diversity, identifying tools and practices that promote inclusivity on civic boards and commissions.
Our goal is to help governments develop an accessible, transparent civic engagement process for all of their citizens. The Guidebook provides best practices and templates for board applications and dissemination, as well as examples, recommendations, and clear next steps to help easily implement these suggestions.
