A Time for Leadership

What does it take to live within your means?

By design, Greater Cincinnati Foundation (GCF) is positioned to be aware of and respond to the needs of the community.

Every day staff are intimately working with our community partners across sectors – ranging from hunger to housing and education to the environment. Doing so uniquely positions GCF to step forward and lead, especially in times of crisis.

Today the Greater Cincinnati region is facing a crisis of another kind: four of our community’s five most populated jobs do not pay enough to afford a two-bedroom rental.

GCF knows this and knows the organizations working in the community to make progress toward a goal of affordable housing for all our neighbors. This focus and connectivity has catalyzed the following impactful work advancing our community today:

  • Seven Hills Neighborhood Housing is partnering with Habitat for Humanity to renovate previously vacant and abandoned buildings in the West End and transform them into affordable housing for families.
  • Working in Neighborhoods is making home ownership possible for low-income residents in South Cumminsville – ensuring that homeownership is sustainable and attainable.
  • Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing Authority is partnering with Urban Sites to develop affordable housing in the Pendleton neighborhood and facilitating job training with companies like Sherwin Williams to make sure residents are set up for continued success.

Ongoing support of Greater Cincinnati Foundation’s Empowering Communities Annual Fund ensures GCF staff continue to lead across the region. Thanks to the donors of this Fund, our community has the leadership it needs to continue driving meaningful change.

To support this work, and other critical initiatives moving our community forward, give to the Empowering Communities Annual Fund today.
