Cincinnati, Ohio (April 14, 2020) – Pro Bono Partnership of Ohio (PBPO) is pleased to announce it has been awarded a $50,000 grant from the Greater Cincinnati Foundation and United Way of Greater Cincinnati’s COVID-19 Regional Response Fund. This award will be used to expand our capacity to meet the legal challenges of our area’s nonprofit organizations during these challenging times.

“We are grateful for the leadership of the Greater Cincinnati Foundation and United Way of Greater Cincinnati,” stated Breck Weigel, President, PBPO Board of Directors. “These are uncertain times for all of us, but particularly difficult for our most vulnerable populations. Getting the proper care to those that need it most is a goal we share with the leaders of the COVID-19 Regional Response Fund,” continued Weigel.

With the recent rapid changes to our social environment and federal, state, and local regulations, PBPO will be there for our nonprofit partners as they face extraordinary challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Like other businesses, they need legal services to operate effectively and appropriately. Often, the cost of these services is more than their budgets can bear. PBPO addresses this need by providing free business legal services to nonprofit organizations who serve the greater Cincinnati and Dayton communities. By assisting them with their legal needs, PBPO enables nonprofit leaders to focus on what they do best – making a deep impact on the people and communities they serve.

“We need our community’s nonprofits to not only survive, but to thrive,” stated Erin Childs, Executive Director, PBPO. “Now with the support from GCF and United Way, PBPO will be there for these organizations, helping build a strong foundation to ensure their incredible work continues.”

Due to the unprecedented impact of COVID-19 on families, individuals, and community organizations in our region, the Greater Cincinnati Foundation and United Way of Greater Cincinnati partnered to activate a coalition of philanthropy and business partners to create the COVID-19 Regional Response Fun. Support from GCF will allow PBPO assist hundreds of nonprofits in our community, meeting the needs of thousands of our friends and neighbors, creating a ripple effect of care well beyond the abilities of any one of us alone.
