GCF Welcomes New Board Leadership and Two Governing Board Members

CINCINNATI (Feb. 20, 2024) — In 2024, Greater Cincinnati Foundation welcomes new members and leadership to its governing board. These new members represent a wide range of talents, strengths, and lived experiences that will help take our Foundation to new, exciting heights.

Board Chair

Ellen G. van der Horst is a former president and CEO of the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber, the nation’s fifth largest with nearly 5,000 member businesses. Prior to joining the Chamber, Ellen spent 22 years in positions of increasing responsibility with the PNC Financial Services Group, ultimately serving as Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for the Retail Bank. Ellen began her career in brand management at the Procter & Gamble Company.

Ellen is currently a director of the Triversity Construction Company and chairs the boards of both Greater Cincinnati Foundation and Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park. Her long history of engagement in the community includes service on the boards of numerous business and civic organizations, including 3CDC, CincyTech, the United Way of Greater Cincinnati, the American Red Cross, the Strive Partnership, the Seven Hills School, the Cincinnati Opera and ArtsWave. 

Vice Chair
David Osborn is President of Osborn Williams & Donohoe, LLC, an independent registered investment advisor. He leads the firm’s Dividend Growth Strategy team and is responsible for portfolio management, client service and investment research. David is also a past President of the Cincinnati Society of Financial Analysts (now known as the CFA Institute of Cincinnati) and received the Chartered Financial Analyst designation. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Cincinnati Financial Corporation and serves on the Board of Trustees at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. In addition, David serves on an investment committee at Mount Saint Joseph University and is a past chair of the Board of Trustees at the Contemporary Arts Center of Cincinnati.

New Board Members
Brian E. Hodgett is a long-time leader at P&G. In his current role as vice president, State Government Relations and Ohio Community Relations, he oversees all charitable giving, outreach to government and community thought leaders, and direction of legislative and regulatory strategy. Brian is also active in the community, serving on numerous executive committees and boards including Cintrifuse, 3CDC, REDI Cincinnati, Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce, United Way of Greater Cincinnati, Workforce Innovation Center and the Cincinnati Regional Business Committee.

Herb Robinson is a P&G retiree who most recently served as associate director, Worldwide Quality Assurance. Herb now spends his time giving back to the community as a volunteer tax preparer, deacon and treasurer of his church, advisor to Peoples Church New2You Thrift Store, vice president of the Avondale Running Club, PAR-Projects (Professional Artistic Research Projects) board member and W&S Open Marshall Committee Captain. In addition, Herb served in various advisory positions at The Ohio State University and currently participates in Greater Cincinnati Foundation’s Cincinnati Black Giving Circle Steering Committee and Marketing and Development Committee.
