Cincinnati Business Courier: Businesses would be banned from asking for salary history under proposed Cincinnati ordinance

Businesses within the city of Cincinnati would be barred from asking about applicants’ salary history under an ordinance proposed by Councilwoman Tamaya Dennard on Friday. The ordinance is aimed at combatting unequal pay between men and women and minorities in the region, Dennard told reporters at a City Hall news conference, and it has the support of the Women’s Fund of the Greater Cincinnati Foundation. In Hamilton County, women make 79 cents for every dollar that men make, with that figure being worse for women of color.
