Greater Cincinnati Foundation Promotes Leaders to Champion Philanthropy

CINCINNATI (April 26, 2024) — Greater Cincinnati Foundation (GCF) has appointed Colleen McCarthy Blair, EMPA, CAP® as vice president, philanthropy and Michele Carey, CAP® as vice president, philanthropic strategies to amplify philanthropic impact. These new appointments will help GCF activate generosity and create lasting impact around a shared vision for the region.

Sarah Weiss, chief philanthropy officer, has set her team’s focus on donor stewardship and meaningful partnership to benefit the Greater Cincinnati community. These news roles and the growth of GCF’s philanthropic partnership team are critical in aligning philanthropic resources with building a vibrant, opportunity-rich, and equitable region for all.

“Our track record shows that more dollars into the Foundation equals more dollars out to the community,” said Weiss. “I’m looking forward to working closely with Colleen and Michele as thought partners in this profoundly important work.”

McCarthy Blair has been with GCF since 2017, and most recently served as senior director, donor services. In her new role, McCarthy Blair will be responsible for the donor experience, developing and leading strategy for impeccable donor stewardship to inspire a culture of philanthropy.

“I’m thrilled to step into this role at a point of great opportunity for our region,” noted McCarthy Blair. “I’ve spent my career working to speed the pace of positive change, inspire generosity and connect those with the means to help to those galvanizing solutions.”

Carey, who started her career with GCF in 2012 and most recently served as director, professional advisor relations, is expanding her role to lead growth and business development. Her team is responsible for partnering with professional advisors to help individuals and families design a charitable plan that aligns with their current financial goals, while building a legacy for future generations.

“Walking hand in hand with donors on their philanthropic journey brings me joy,” Carey said. “For 12 years, it’s been an incredible honor to work alongside professional advisors as they assist clients with charitable giving. I’m excited to lead a team that will help people learn how GCF can connect their passions to charitable opportunities in the community they call home.”
