Alpha Delta Boule’ News Release

July 2, 2018

Nearly 1,800 Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity members, spouses and family members gathered in Cincinnati recently for their biennial business conference, the 54th Grand Boulé. The national conference was hosted by the fraternity’s Greater Cincinnati member boulé (chapter), Alpha Delta Boulé (ADB).

In conjunction with the conference, ADB has announced the launch of an endowed fund through a partnership with the Greater Cincinnati Foundation (GCF). Starting in 2018, the ADB Fund will make grants to nonprofit organizations that improve the physical, economic, social and educational conditions affecting the quality of life for African Americans while promoting self-sufficiency, self-esteem and initiatives addressing African American concerns.

“Alpha Delta Boulé of Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity is pleased to be partnering with the Greater Cincinnati Foundation in support of our community,” said Woody Keown, Sire Archon (President) of Alpha Delta Boulé. “We chose GCF because of their expertise and commitment to improve our collective future, and are confident that they will use the annual proceeds of the ADB fund to address our most pressing needs. We invite everyone to join us in growing the Alpha Delta Boulé Fund as it serves Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky in perpetuity.”

“GCF is delighted to join with Alpha Delta Boulé as they launch their fund in support of opportunities and initiatives impacting African Americans in our region,” said Ellen Katz, GCF President and CEO. “The ADB Fund of GCF is a dynamic expression of their commitment and leadership, and we look forward to working together to grow our community into a place where everyone can thrive.”

Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity is best known as the Boulé, a Greek term meaning “council of noblemen.” Founded in 1904, Sigma Pi Phi, comprised primarily of African American men, is the oldest such African American Greek-letter organization. It has more than 5,000 members and 136 member boulés throughout the United States, the United Kingdom (London) and the West Indies. Established in 1948 in Cincinnati, Alpha Delta Boulé is the local member boulé of the international Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity. It consists of about 50 men of high achievement in the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area.
