GCF and GE reignite Greater Cincinnati African American Scholarship Fund

March 9, 2022

GCF and GE announced the restart of the Greater Cincinnati African American Scholarship Fund (GCAASF) for high school seniors in the Greater Cincinnati area. Up to eight scholarships ranging from $2,000 to $10,000 will be awarded for the 2022-23 academic year and there are still a few days left to submit applications.

In 2002, GE Aviation’s African American Forum (AAF) partnered with businesses throughout Greater Cincinnati to form the GCAASF, administered by Greater Cincinnati Foundation. Between 2002 and 2014, the fund provided scholarships to more than 230 local students at 83 different universities.

In 2021, a team of GE employees came together to relaunch the program to provide scholarship opportunities and promote career development opportunities for diverse students in the Greater Cincinnati area.

“I’m thrilled to see the Greater Cincinnati African American Scholarship Fund reignited,” said Tony Mathis, President and CEO of GE Edison Works. “GE has a long history providing college scholarships and career opportunities to students of diverse backgrounds. We’re confident these scholarships will be a tremendous help to students as they pursue their college degrees.”

“Access to educational resources is critical to building a vibrant and equitable region. We are proud to be a partner with GE for the relaunch of this fund to provide these resources to students of diverse backgrounds,” said Phillip Lanham, Chief Philanthropy Officer of GCF.

Applications must be submitted via the online form by March 11, 2022.

Applicants must meet the following qualifications to be considered for these scholarships:
