Workforce development is an integral part of that mission.”

The grants have been awarded to:

  • The Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce for its new strategic initiative, Growing Regional Outcomes through Workforce (GROW) Northern Kentucky: $50,000.
GROW NKY is a comprehensive and collaborative workforce development/talent strategy focused on leveraging key workforce partners and the region’s full complement of assets to grow a globally competitive workforce. The grant supports GROW NKY’s efforts to drive outcomes for workforce development through five key pillars: kindergarten readiness, college and career readiness, adult career readiness and life-long learning, talent retention and attraction and employer policies and practices.
  • The Northern Kentucky Area Development District (NKADD) for the Northern Kentucky Workforce Investment Board (NKWIB) Covington Career Center: $50,000.
The grant builds on GCF’s 2015 support that enabled NKWIB to relocate the career center to a rehabilitated building on Madison Avenue in Covington to better serve its clients and contribute to the area’s revitalization. The grant will help the organization expand client services and referrals for military veterans; youth; low-income, underemployed and over-55 job seekers.
  • UpTech, Inc.: $25,000.
The grant continues GCF’s support of UpTech, a Northern Kentucky-based accelerator program for data-driven startups.
UpTech supports job creation by developing entrepreneurs through education and mentorship; empowering each to build a strong, investable business.  In addition to supporting UpTech’s operations since inception, GCF and its donors have supported UpTech Fund I and Fund II through two impact investments totaling $450,000.

In partnership with the Charles H. Dater Foundation and donors, GCF also recently issued a record 39 “Learning Links” grants, totaling $35,642, to schools in Boone, Campbell and Kenton counties.

The Greater Cincinnati Foundation and its donors have granted $40 million to Northern Kentucky organizations since the Northern Kentucky Fund’s launch in 1998.
